PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bank note handling apparatus which reduces a processing period of time for processing a bank note forgot to be taken, and maintains security in a bank note handling apparatus. SOLUTION: By use of a sensor for detecting shutter opening/closing or a sensor for detecting vibration of a shutter portion, when the sensor detects an open shutter while opening the shutter is not executed, or when the sensor detects the vibration of the shutter portion, the bank notes are saved from an inlet/outlet into a tentative storage.
