PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of preventing wrinkles in paper and also preventing offset at end parts and short life times of the end parts of a pressure roll by heating the pressure roll so that the temperatures of the end parts are higher than the temperature of the middle part only in specific cases, and to provide, by a simple configuration and at low costs, an image forming apparatus using the fixing device. SOLUTION: After the surface temperature of a heat roll 151 reaches a predetermined fixing temperature at which an unfixed image can be fixed, the end parts of the pressure roll 153 are heated for a predetermined time according to the surface temperature of the pressure roll 153 so that the temperatures of axial both end parts of the pressure roll are higher than the temperature of the middle part thereof.
