PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure displacements of a test piece or a specimen in axial directions without having to mount a plurality of displacement gauges or strain gauges to the test piece or the specimen at diagonal positions or enlarge the diameter of a boring hole for ground survey for the installment of displacement gauges. SOLUTION: An axial displacement measuring apparatus (1) comprises a magnetic core (10) surrounding the periphery of an object (S) to be measured; a primary coil (11); and a secondary coil (12). The core is integrally mounted to the outer circumference of the object (S), follows displacements of the object in axial directions, and are displaced. The primary coil is arranged outside the core in such a way as to be opposed to the core at a prescribed interval from the core. The primary and secondary coils are aligned and arranged in axial directions of the object. Displacements of the core, which follows displacements of the object in axial directions, are detected on the basis of voltage differences between induced voltages of the secondary coil.
