PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a door engaging device for an elevator capable of preventing noise, reducing electric power consumption and securely transmitting driving force of a door drive device to a door of a landing, even in an elevator device having a small distance between a sill of the landing and a sill of a car. SOLUTION: This door engaging device for the elevator is provided with a landing side engaging part 13 provided in the door of the landing of the elevator; a car side engaging part 15 provided in a car door 3 of the elevator and freely arranged in a retreating position and projecting position; a drive motor 19 independently provided to drive the car side engaging part 15; and a driving force transmitting part for engaging the car side engaging part 15 with the landing side engaging part 13 by transmitting driving force of the drive motor 19 to arrange the car side engaging part 15 in the projecting position during door opening operation.
