Production of a coated, preferably windable, strip-form material (A) involves: (a) evaporating first and second, less and more solvent-soluble materials (I) and (II) onto a windable, strip-form material (B), so that the jets of vapor of (I) and (II) form a mixed condensate layer at least partially covering (B); (b) dissolving out (II) with a solvent to form open cavities in a matrix of (I); and (c) drying the matrix. An independent claim is included for a coated sheet-form material (A'), comprising (B), a porous layer with a specific surface of 50-1500 m2>/g and a pore-free, 20-500 nm thick intermediate layer between the porous layer and (B), where the porous layer has a positive porosity gradient from the intermediate layer to the coating surface (specifically of 0.1-10 mu m->1>).
