PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for removing/dewatering foreign matter in wastewater which can remove foreign matter contained in wastewater and simultaneously crushes, washes, and compacts the collected foreign matter to decrease the volume of the foreign matter contained in the wastewater, prevents clogging of a screen part, and carries out treatment sanitarily. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a screw type dewatering apparatus which is composed by disposing a screw 3 in the inside of a cylindrical screen 2 in a rotatable manner and which is slanted in the boundary position between a water receiving tank 10 and a discharged water tank 11. Flowing wastewater is supplied separately to the main current and branched wastewater and the collected foreign matter is successively transported to a crushing zone A, a washing zone B, and a compacting zone C in the inside of the cylindrical screen 2.
