PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compactly miniaturize a reel for fishing equipped with a magnetic braking apparatus automatically braking over speed of a spool which occurs when fishline is released according to number of revolutions of the spool. SOLUTION: This reel for fishing is equipped with the magnetic braking apparatus 28 supporting a conductor 40 to be variable and increasing or decreasing magnetic braking force acting on the spool 16 by advancing or retreating the conductor 40 into magnetic fields of magnets 30 and 32 provided in a reel body 12 according to rotation speed of the spool 16. A movable member 54 which is movable in the radial direction by rotation of the spool 16 is arranged movably in the axial direction and a conversion means for converting movement in the radial direction of the movable member 54 to movement in the axial direction of the conductor is respectively formed between the movable member 54 and an engaging part 60 on the conductor side engaging with the movable member and between the movable member 54 and engaging part 62 on the spool side engaging with the movable member.
