Dry composition comprising C and TiO2 powder, where the C is chemically bonded with other chemical elements, especially organic binder useful as paste or slip for production of protective layer in component coating processes, e.g. in coating turbine blades : INDEPENDENTR CLAIMS ARE INCLUDED FOR: (1) a layer system including a substrate (4) component and a protective layer (7,7') which contains the dry composition (2) a coating method in which the composition is applied as a paste or slip which to a region (11) of the substrate not to be coated after which a protective layer (7,7') is applied to the component.
