An electrochemical double layer capacitor (DLC) 10, in a cell case 12 defining an anode, is configured for mounting on a PCB 22. A first connector component, eg blade 20, is configured at each individual terminal lead 16 of the DLC 10. A second connector component, eg card edge connector 28, is mounted on the PCB 22 and includes a number of parallel connector elements 30 at a footprint location for electrical mating contact with the DLC leads. The connector configuration produces a minimal increase in the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of the capacitor when mounted on the PCB. An adhesive layer 46 may be provided on the PCB 22 or on the underside of the DLC case 12 to ensure that the DLC remains attached to the PCB; alternatively, other fastening means such as clips and screws may be used.
