PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To coat a relatively large sized material (w) to be coated with a coating material flow-out head 2 maintained compact. SOLUTION: In the flow coater provided with a coating material supply port member 7 in a trough like coating material retaining body part 5 and operated by overflowing a coating material liquid (t) supplied at a fixed flow rate from one sidewall upper end (b1) of the body part 5 in the longitudinal direction in a curtain like form and passing the material (w) to be coated below the body part 5, a trough like auxiliary coating material retaining part 6 having a relatively small volume is separately arranged within the range of the trough length of the coating material retaining body part 5. The coating material supply member 7 is internally mounted in the auxiliary coating material retaining part 6. The coating material liquid (t) is previously discharged into the auxiliary coating material retaining part 6 from the coating material supply port member 7 and is overflown from the one side wall surface 3 of the auxiliary coating material retaining part 6 in the longitudinal direction to be indirectly supplied to the coating material retaining main body part 5.
