The machine has a stator, which is arranged in a torque proof manner, and a rotor (10), which is rotatably supported. The stator and rotor have winding head has a mechanical natural frequency, which is larger than double the electrical operating frequency. The winding head has small extension in an axial direction of the electrical machine. A thin isolation layer is arranged between adjacent conductors of the winding head. The isolation layer has mica, polyamide, polyamide, polytetrafluoroethylene and polyester. The winding head is surrounded radially outwards by support plates and/or support ring. The support plates and/or support ring is formed of fiber reinforced plastics and carbon.
