PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper for contributing to reduction in the whole weight, and contributing to reduction in manufacturing cost, needless to say to be capable of damping run-out of a front wheel in a traveling motorcycle by the smooth damping action. SOLUTION: This rotary damper is arranged in flow passages L1 and L2 for communicating left and right oil chambers R1 and R2 defined by a vane 2 rockably stored in a housing 1. A valve mechanism 5 for allowing the passing of a hydraulic fluid is pressed from the tip side in a press-in part 50 composed of a straight hole communicating with the flow passages L1 and L2. The rear end of the valve mechanism 5 is regulated by opposed regulating parts 11 so that a moving distance (d) of the valve mechanism 5 when retreating to the tip of the valve mechanism 5 by the action of hydraulic pressure, becomes smaller than a press-in quantity D when pressing the valve mechanism 5 in the press-in part 50.
