PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting rod which can be highly strengthened and lightened by applying a material light, highly strong, and easy to mold, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This connecting rod 10 has a large end part 11, a small end part 12, and an eye section part 13 forming a pole shape and connecting with the large end part and the small end part, and at least the eye section part is formed of a light alloy composite material containing a carbon nano tube. In addition, a primary raw material containing the carbon nano tube and a light alloy matrix is molded by rolling or extruding to form a secondary raw material in which the carbon nano tube is oriented in one direction, and the eye section part is formed from the secondary raw material by orienting the carbon nano tube along the axial direction in which the eye section part is extended.
