PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-precision hydrostatic bearing spindle which has a big load-carrying capacity, and a small elongation in the tip part of the rotation shaft. SOLUTION: A pair of thrust bearings 5, 6 are situated behind a housing flange 8 (opposite to loading side) and further behind a pair of radial bearings 3, 4 (opposite to loading side). The thrust bearings 5, 6 support the axial load on both sides of a rotation-shaft flange 1b made on the rotation shaft 1. Further, more preferably, the coefficient of the thermal expansion of the material of the housing 2 is set greater than the coefficient of thermal expansion of the material of the rotation shaft 1.
