A duplicate notification message processing method in a terminal is disclosed. The method comprises: receiving a notification message informing of the reception of a multimedia message from an MMS server; deleting the notification message according to whether a multimedia message corresponding to the notification message is downloaded, when the notification message is determined as a duplicate notification message; and transmitting one of a response message for the notification message and a request message for multimedia message, when the notification message is not a duplicate notification message.
