A method of controlling a photographing-recording system is provided to store a moving picture with a new motion without omitting the moving picture even when a time lapse function is executed. A recording apparatus(13) sets a lapse time at the request of a user. A motion picture photographing apparatus(11) compares previous frame data to current frame data and increases or decreases the lapse time according to the comparison result. The recording apparatus periodically interrupts a recording operation for the lapse time. It is determined whether a motion picture with a new motion is generated according to the result of comparison of the previous frame data to the current frame data, and the lapse time is adaptively increased or decreased according to the determination result. Accordingly, the motion picture with a new motion is recorded in the recording apparatus without being omitted even when a time lapse function is carried out.
