Anesthesia system comprises a respiratory gas source (2) for respiratory gas on a gas inlet (7), a gas outlet (11), an anesthetic vaporizer (10) arranged between the gas inlet and gas outlet, a bypass line (9) bridging the vaporizer, a switching unit (8) formed on the gas inlet to completely or partially deviate respiratory gas through the vaporizer or through the bypass line to the gas outlet, a control unit (6) for actuating the switching unit to change the concentration of the anesthetic at the gas outlet and a monitoring unit (29) to control the switching unit when there is an error so that the respiratory gas is completely deviated via the vaporizer. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an anesthesia system. Preferred Features: A respiratory circulation (4) is joined to the gas outlet to supply a patient with respiratory gas. Respiratory monitors determine the composition of the gas. An oxygen source (24) is arranged upstream of the vaporizer as a emergency gas supply. |
