PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce difference in quality of recording in a period of time from the start of use of a recording paper wound like a roll to the end of use of the recording paper. SOLUTION: In this ink jet recording device 1 for feeding the recording paper P intermittently in X direction by transmitting power to a paper feeding roller 19a from a paper feeding motor 21 through a first gear 23, a second gear 24, and a third gear 25 and recording on the recording paper P fed intermittently by discharging ink drops from a recording head 5, the number of paper feeding steps of the paper feeding motor 21 is changed based on size of a roll part 26 detected by a first detection sensor 45 and a second detection sensor 47.
