PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous cleaning device for a felt or wire, enabling the continuous cleaning of a top felt even in the case of a type of a papermaking machine having a removable top felt top roll imparting wet crepe to wet paper, to improve the production efficiency of household thin paper, and a method of continuous cleaning by utilising the same. SOLUTION: This top felt or wire 10 continuous cleaning device equipped with a high pressure cleaning shower 1 ejecting cleaning water on the surface of the top felt or wire 10 of the papermaking machine having the removable top felt top roll and a suction box 3 for sucking and dehydrating from the back surface of the felt or wire 10 is constituted by installing an air shower 2 for blowing air to the felt or wire 10 ejected with cleaning water.
