PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hood for an automobile capable of satisfying a basic performance of the hood of an automobile, with excellent pedestrian protection. SOLUTION: This hood 1 for an automobile has a cross sectional structure that a space is formed between an outer panel 2 and an inner panel 3 when the panels are jointed. The inner panel 3 comprises an inner peripheral edge 3a jointed to an outer peripheral edge 2a of the outer panel, a frame recessed part 4 continued to the inner peripheral edge 3a and forming the space between it and the outer panel 2, a plurality of projected lateral beads 7 formed in a direction perpendicular to a vehicle traveling direction on a panel central side from the frame recessed part 4 and having a joint face 5 jointed to the outer panel 2, and a panel plane 6 adjacent to the lateral beads 7 and forming the space between it and the outer panel 2. The lateral beads 7 has a shape mismatch part 8A encouraging deformation at the time of collision at least one part of a rear inclined face continued to the panel plane 6 from the joint face 5 on a rear side in the vehicle traveling direction.
