PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press-forming method for a metal plate capable of improving forming limit of generating a crack in a metal plate without taking any special countermeasures such as correcting a shape of a die and changing a material of the metal plate into a special one. SOLUTION: In the press-forming method including clamping a metal plate with a punch and a die, after starting formation by bringing the punch into contact with the metal plate at first, the punch is separated once from the metal plate when the press-forming load reaches a predetermined value, and the metal plate is formed again with the punch and a die before the punch reaches a terminal end of a stroke to complete the forming of the metal plate, based on a signal detected by a load detector installed in the press-forming machine.
