An ink cartridge (611) comprising: a case (612) having a top wall (612b), a bottom wall (612c), a front wall (612a), a rear wall (612f) and first and second sidewalls (612d, 612e). The ink cartridge (611) has one or more ink supply portions (616a) formed in the front wall (612a). There are one or more ink containing portions (613, fig.40) defined within the case (612) and in fluid communication with respective said ink supply portions (616a). The ink cartridge (611) has a first recess (621) recessed from the first sidewall (612d) and a first protrusion (623) projecting from a first plane in which at least part of the first sidewall (612d) lies. Furthermore there is provided a second recess recessed from the second sidewall (612e) and a second protrusion projecting from a second plane in which at least part of the second sidewall (612e) lies. The ink cartridge is also provided with a third recess (619) and a circuit board disposed in the third recess (619); wherein the first protrusion (623) is located adjacent to the first recess (621) and the second protrusion is located adjacent to the second recess; and the circuit board is accessible through an opening of the third recess (619), which is opened at the front wall (612a).
