PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel diarylethene compound of a thermally reversible type suitable as a dimming material. SOLUTION: The diarylethene compound is represented by general formula (1) [wherein n represents an integer of 2 to 5, and A and B each independently represents a compound represented by general formula (2)].
