<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic electronic component having high reliability, where a metal piece is rigidly jointed to an electrode, with no breakage or damage on a ceramic workpiece. <P>SOLUTION: The ceramic electronic component comprises a varistor element 40 and metal pieces 51 to 53. The varistor element 40 comprises electrodes 42 to 44 on at least one surface of an annular varistor element 41.
