PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent flicker correction performance from deteriorating when an imaging apparatus with a flicker correction function mounting a CCD is used under a fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a calculator for calculating a pixel average value, i. e. the average value of pixel values constituting the video image of every frame outputted from a CCD and processed digitally, a flicker judgment unit for detecting occurrence/nonoccurrence of flicker from the pixel average value and originating a notice of occurrence or nonoccurrence of flicker, a unit performing flicker correction processing in response to the notice of occurrence of flicker, a unit for calculating a flicker period pixel average value by averaging the pixel average values in units of flicker period in response to the notice of occurrence of flicker, and an AE set value calculator performing AE processing of the output from the CCD with reference to the flicker period pixel average value.
