PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a cleaning operation with a new microbial preparation capable of carrying out efficient cleaning treatment while preventing the ingestion of pollutant-decomposing microorganisms by native organisms. SOLUTION: A microbial preparation containing a stimulation-responding polymer and a pollutant-decomposition microorganism 3 is applied to a polluted site, etc., and stimulation is applied to induce the constriction and hydrophobization of the stimulation-responding polymer and protect the pollutant-decomposition microorganism 3 from the ingestion by an aerobic native microorganism 5. When a nutrient source 6 of the aerobic microorganism is applied to the polluted site, etc., together with the microbial preparation, the aerobic native microorganism 5 proliferates by consuming the nutrient and promotes the consumption of oxygen to construct an anaerobic state in the polluted site. When the polluted site, etc., become anaerobic state after the lapse of a definite time, the stimulation-responding polymer is changed to hydrophilic and the immobilized pollutant-decomposition microorganism 3 is released to obtain a microbial preparation capable of quickly starting the cleaning reaction.
