The butterfly valve has a flap (5) which is offset from its shaft (8). Its edges (6) form a seal with the edges (4) of a sealing ring (3) when closed, the sealing edges being at an angle of 3[deg] to the longitudinal axis (7) of the valve. A stop controlling the closing position of the shaft can be used to adjust the angle. An independent claim is included for a method for making the valve.
