PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical glass which contains bismuth oxide and is small in photoelastic constant. SOLUTION: The optical glass contains, by mol, 0.5 to 80% Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and whose photoelastic constant in 546 nm is 0 to 2.0×10<SP>-5</SP>(nm cm<SP>-1</SP>Pa<SP>-1</SP>). Further, in the optical glass comprising SiO<SB>2</SB>and B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>by 3 to 70% in total and having a thickness of 10 mm, the transmissivity in the wavelength of 546 nm is preferably≥70%.
