PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover device for a luggage boot of an automobile. SOLUTION: A flexible face-forming body is so held that it can be wound up on a winding shaft and be pulled out. A formed end part member having a stable form is provided at a pulling-out directional front end of the flexible face-forming body. The formed end part member is held at a position where the face-forming body is protected, of which the face-forming body is pulled out substantially horizontally at a vehicle-side housing part arranged at opposite side-face borders of the luggage boot. A forming guide member is engaged with the housing part, and extends into a roof area of the luggage boot along the side-face borders of the luggage boot. The formed end part member is displaceable together with the face-forming body into the roof area in a slidable or rotatable manner for the movement between the protection position and a comfortable position. In the cover device thus structured, at least one of locking means (11-11g, 12-12g, 14) is fitted to the forming guide member to temporarily fix the formed end part member (6-6h) arranged in an upper end part area of the forming guide member (8-8h).
