PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookrest which allows reading a book easily and with convenience in a posture of lying on the back. SOLUTION: The bookrest is composed of a stand held by a a base, a stand arm which is attached to the stand and is extended obliquely upward from the stand, a holding arm which is extended from the upper part of the stand arm in a way perpendicular to the stand arm and in which a lower substrate is attached to the lower end and an upper substrate is attached above the lower substrate, respectively, and a presser bar which is provided at the leading end of the stand arm and has a presser plate, and in the lower substrate and the upper substrate, transparent boards are mounted at the upper and lower parts of them and a book can be fixed by the presser plates provided in the transparent boards and presser bars.
