The apparatus has a driving disc (80) and an electric motor (23). A hand wheel (100) is connected to the disc. A housing with positioning protrusions (34) is placed between the disc and a triggering disc (60). A rotation of a wheel (21) of a wheelchair produces auxiliary power from the motor when an user rotates the hand wheel forward or backward. A connecting portion (101) of the hand wheel is fixed to the driving disc and the driving disc rotates with the hand wheel during the rotation of the hand wheel. A rotating travel of the driving disc is limited by limiting holes and protrusions.
