PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that, in a conventional stroboscopic device, noise easily enters a gate voltage of an IGBT element to control a discharge current of a flash discharge tube, and the gate voltage drops and internal resistance increases to cause damage to the IGBT element. SOLUTION: This flash discharge tube lighting control circuit 1 of a stroboscopic device lights a flash discharge tube 8 for a set time by a flash discharge tube drive circuit 2 using an IGBT element 3 and lights a photographic subject. A timer circuit 4 which holds a conduction time established at least in the IGBT element is installed in the flash discharge tube drive circuit, and the IGBT element is conducted by the logical sum of an output from the flash discharge tube drive circuit and an output from the timer circuit. Thereby, a gate voltage which is necessary and sufficient for the conduction of the IGBT element can be secured by the flash discharge tube drive circuit and the timer circuit.
