PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave filter which reduces radiation loss in a bulk wave, reduces insertion loss in a pass band, has wide band pass width, and can correspond to balanced signal output; and to provide a communication apparatus provided with the same. SOLUTION: In the surface acoustic wave filter 1 having surface acoustic wave elements A, B, the element A is provided with IDT electrodes 3, 2 and 4 having interdigital electrode fingers, and a reflector electrodes 7, 8. The element B is provided with an IDT electrode 16 having the interdigital electrode fingers, IDT electrodes 13, 15 outside the IDT electrode 16, and reflector electrodes 17, 18. In the IDT electrode 16, one of each of the electrode fingers is divided into two, and output terminals 11, 12 are connected to each of halves.
