PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display apparatus of high display quality in which luminance is not changed by a lighting rate, even if the number of switching elements is small. SOLUTION: In the plasma display apparatus including sustain pulse generation sections for applying a sustain pulse to a pair of display electrodes, the sustain pulse generation sections have a clamp sections including a first switching element for clamping one of the pair of display electrodes on a first voltage and a second switching element for clamping the other of the pair of display electrodes on a second voltage. A first IGBT is used for the switching element to which a voltage for starting sustain discharge in a discharge cell is applied, and a second IGBT is used for the switching element to which the voltage for not starting the sustain discharge in the discharge cell is applied, and a turn ON period of the first IGBT is shorter than the turn ON period of the second IGBT, and a saturation voltage between a collector and an emitter of the second IGBT is lower than the saturation voltage between the collector and the emitter of the first IGBT.
