PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical apparatus in which a subscanning magnificationβis kept small and the size of the apparatus is miniaturized without inviting a lengthy lens, to suppress the spherical aberration with respect to a light beam on a face to be scanned as much as possible and to irradiate the face to be scanned with the light beam having a high density. SOLUTION: The light beam from a deflector 4 is expanded with a scanning lens 16 (expanding lens). Thus, the subscanning magnificationβis kept small. Although the spherical aberration is deteriorated by being expanded by the scanning lens 16, the spherical aberration is suppressed by arranging a correcting lens 17, which is located at the downstream side of the scanning lens 16, with an eccentricity with respect to the optical axis of the light beam.
