Method for purifying 7alpha-methoxy-cephalosporins containing as impurity the corresponding 7alpha-methylthio analogue, which is transformed into its methoxy analogue by treatment with a halogenating agent in methanol. In this way the complete conversion of the sulphurated impurity into the corresponding methoxy analogue is obtained.
