<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device which minimizes the effect of heat resulting from glass sealing on a peripheral member and enhances efficiency in light extraction to make it more efficient than a conventional light extraction. <P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting device includes a wiring board 4, an LED (Light Emitting Diode) 6 having electrodes 5 connected electrically to wires 3, a sealing glass 7 which is fabricated by melting method and covers the LED 6, and a resin 8 covering the sealing glass 7. The sealing glass 7 has a flat portion 9 on a face counter to the wiring board 4, which flat portion 9 is provided with bumps 10 connected to the wires 3.
