PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of well performing cooling and dehumidification, even if operation starting is delayed in a solenoid valve for variable displacement of a compressor. SOLUTION: A control device makes the second control current duty Dt(n) to be outputted to the solenoid valve as 25% when the calculated first control current duty Dtd(n) is lower than real compressor four-drive starting duty 25%, and makes the first control current duty Dtd(n) as the second control current duty Dt(n) as it is in the case except the above case. As a result, minimum coolant amount originally required as a result of a thermal load calculation by the control device can be normally circulated in a refrigerating cycle without calculating a control current value that the compressor 4 is not capable of discharging coolant as the second control current duty Dt(n).
