PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive drill bit which can surely and efficiently join a chip to a bit body and a method for producing the drill bit. SOLUTION: In the drill bit formed by joining a main chip 4 for boring to the tip of the bit body, the bottom surface of the main chip 4 is made flat, at least one cavity such as a dent 8 is formed in a joining surface to the bit body of the main chip 4, and a brazing metal (joining metal) 9 is set in the cavity (dent 8). In the method for producing the drill bit, while the brazing metal 9 is set in the cavity (dent 8) formed in the main chip 4 of the drill bit, the main chip 4 is joined to the bit body and both are heated. When the brazing metal 9 is melted onto the surface, the welding of the main chip 4 by a brazing rod (welding electrode) is started. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
