PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide maintainability testing method and device/system implementing the method which can be applied to various porous materials including such filter devices as single layer thin film, double layer thin film, etc., providing non-correlated universal standards for characteristic evaluation of porous material. SOLUTION: This invention is the method for evaluating maintainability of porous material, comprising a step (a) to immerse the porous material with liquid; a step (b) to bring 1st face of the porous material into contact with the mixture containing two or more gasses at least one gas of which has permeability for the above liquid different from that of any other gas in the above mixture; a step (c) to apply pressure to the 1st face of the porous material; and a step (d) to evaluate density of at least one of the above gasses on the area around the 2nd face of the porous material.
