PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect automatically physical arrangement of units, to display the units in the arrangement order, and to display a liquid passage system typical chart corresponding to the arrangement order, in a chemical analyzer having a plurality of units whose arrangement order can be changed. SOLUTION: Each unit such as a detector waits a unit information request signal. The number of hops is added to the unit information request signal, and when the number of hops is zero, own unit classification ID is returned to the transmission side. When the number of hops is one or more, one is subtracted from the number of hops and the result is transferred to an adjacent unit. A PC part transmits the unit information request signal with the number of hops of zero at first, and recognizes a connection position of an answering unit. Thereafter, the number of hops is increased one by one, and the unit information request signal is transmitted, and the arrangement order of all the units is detected. The actual unit arrangement order and the passage order following it are displayed on a screen based on an inter-unit liquid passage information determined beforehand and the detected unit arrangement order.
