PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compose an abnormality detecting device constituted so that an overload protecting device cancels linkage of a driven part with a driving part, when the driven part becomes an overload state, thus protecting the entire soil quality improving machine by detecting abnormality of the load state. SOLUTION: This agitating mixer of the soil quality improving machine is provided with the driven part having an agitator shaft integrally rotating with blades, and the driving part imparting rotation to the agitator shaft, and mixes and agitates soil and a soil quality improving agent. The overload protecting device is provided between the driven part and driving part, and composed to cancel the linkage of the driven part with the driving part, when shaft torque exceeds a given value so as to be in an overload state. The agitating mixer is further provided with a sensor detecting a rotation state of the driven side of the overload protecting device, and a signal processing means for detecting abnormality of the load state based on the detection signals of the sensor.
