PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner and an image forming device equipped with the same, in which the detection sensitivity by a temperature detection means is high, and the temperature rise in a luminous source unit can be constrained without fail. SOLUTION: The image scanner is equipped with a lamp 8 for irradiating light to a manuscript, mirrors 9, 11, 12 for receiving the reflected light reflected at the manuscript; a lens unit 14, a CCD 15, a first carriage 10 that is installed with the lamp 8 and is movable along the scanning surface of the manuscript; a thermistor 50, placed at the side of the housing 4 of a scanner body 2 to detect the temperature, by making the sensor 50a come into direct contact with the lamp 8 on the first carriage 10, when the first carriage 10 is at a stop at a scanning standby position; and a controller for executing processings, based on the detection result effected by the thermistor 50.
