NON-PERSPECTIVE VARIABLE-SCALE MAP DISPLAYS

Embodiments relate to a method and apparatus that uses non-perspective continuous variable-scale maps to solve inherent problems of conventional navigation map displays. The method comprises maintaining a data structure of topographic information and selecting a portion of the topographic information from the data structure. The method further comprises performing a coordinate transformation of the selected topographic information to represent the selected information as a variable scale map other than a perspective map and displaying the transformed topographic information.
