<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus without impairing the durability of a photoreceptor even if the same image including vertical ruled lines is repeatedly printed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus suppresses the uneven wear of the photoreceptor and the degradation of a chargeability caused by repetitious formation of a vertical ruled-line image on the same part of the photoreceptor. The image forming apparatus has: a means for detecting the position where a transfer material is conveyed; and a means for forming an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor on the basis of the detected position where the transfer material is conveyed.
