WATER BARRIER STRUCTURE OF WASTE LANDFILL SITE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water barrier structure of a waste landfill site comprising a water barrier layer made strong enough upon partitioning the waste landfill site to maintain its water barrier capacity even in the case of a ground subsidence without reinforcing a weak part of the ground of the waste landfill site.

SOLUTION: The water barrier layer for separating the ground of a waste landfill site and waste dumped therein is constituted of a supporting sheet member 36 and a water barrier sheet 37 overlaid thereon. A sheet member made from a material such as a glass fiber or a class of sheets called geotextile having a very high breaking strength is used as the supporting sheet member 36 so that the water barrier layer follows a subsidence 31 that has occurred in a weak part of the ground by deforming itself or can support the weight of the waste borne by the water barrier layer by virtue of its strength alone even in the case of a much bigger deformation of the ground.
