PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original scanner of which the type is that an original size may be specified by scanning an original twice when the original is set, and which eliminates the case that it is necessary to set an original again although the original is rightly set on an original platen. SOLUTION: The original scanner 10 is configured as an apparatus which tries to specify an original size again when a status request is received or when processing start is instructed in the case that the specification of the original size is failed when the original is set (the specification of the original size is failed since an original platen cover is not closed within a predetermined time).
