PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for comparing a metabolic state of a cell or a difference in response caused by application of chemical stimulation to a cell and provide a method for the precise purification of a cell by its phenotype by separating the cell based on the comparison result. SOLUTION: Snap images of a cell flowing in a flow channel are photographed at least twice at a prescribed time interval and the amount of the cell (metabolic quantity) changed between the photographing actions is measured to compare and determine the difference in metabolism of the cell or response caused by the stimulation of the cell.
