The mattress is of a suitable size and covered with an appropriate material. The areas located under the head, the shoulders and the legs are made of a soft material or provided with a multitude of openings for yielding. The main section of the spine and the buttocks are supported by a firmer mattress section. The central area is designed in a wedge shape with the tip pointing to the lower side and the upper surface slightly curved. It is joined to the soft parts by gluing.
