The device has a counter unit (1000) for receiving an external clock signal and a delay control loop clock signal and for counting the number of toggles or switchovers and the external clock signal and the delay control loop clock signal from a preset number. A comparison control unit (3000) compares the counted number of toggles of the external clock signal with that of the delay control loop clock signal depending on an on-die-termination or ODT command signal and outputs an ODT trigger signal to control the ODT based on the comparison result. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling signal termination on a chip.
